Passionate wordsmith,
your covert co-writer
Excellent writing springs forth from creative desire but strictly within the bounds of eagle-eye restraint. It is often best a spin-off to other activity.
As a communications expert, I am primarily a business communication performance coach for accomplished or aspiring leaders and thinkers, but with a substantial interest in most industries and aspects of life and a particular background in higher education; closely linked to this is the constant requirement to review, draft and write. And I love it.

Corporate support:
understanding client needs
This has given me consistent pleasure for 25 years. Supporting wide-ranging clients and often fulfilling their needs for self-promotion or written output, I have provided writing and editorial services for professionals and executives in the City of London and other CBDs for decades.
Let's roll back in time. After a brief entry-level experience in investment banking as a grad, I became an English language teacher in the early-to-mid-1990s. A rich experience; it gave me a strong and deep structural base to written expression, rules and norms.
Soon after, I began managing a large educational department providing medical, business, vocational and academic English. With an undergrad degree in commerce and a master's in public and organisational communication, and a later role supporting Russell-Group courses in Finance, Economics, International Business and Management, I was well credentialed to launch into coaching professionals and senior executives chiefly in finance, banking, consulting and IT, in all areas of communication. Which I did, from 2002. The glimpses into heavyweight corporate life in the City of London went from trickle to flow. I injected my pedagogical skills repertoire with coaching and other methodologies. Presto, a buzzing coaching and training business emerged (in communication performance for high-calibre executives, aspirational thinkers, and leaders in transition).
It was a perfect storm, nicely leveraged. (Just to mix my metaphors. Again.)
A thriving side-hustle emerged providing editorial and co-writing support to my professionals and executives: supplementary services in writing, co-writing, ghost-writing, editing and copyediting.
Transition, recruitment:
director, c-suite perspectives
A 16-year collaboration with now the UK's leading career consultancy and outplacement firm City CV Ltd. and Hanover Talent Solutions, of the Hanover Search Group, had me designing and authoring a range of training and coaching programmes and webinars for them and their clients.
I have regularly supported managers and directors, and NED and executive/c-suite board members, across industries and sectors but largely in finance and investment banking, consultancy, insurance, IT, law, energy and infrastructure. But I’ve also done quite a lot with senior civil servants and the public sector, ex-military, production operations, medical, marketing and media, and other areas. My links with industry are extensive and deep.
My span for corporate writing:
• editing corporate reports and other executive output
• writing and copyediting pitches, proposals, business cases for professionals
• writing self-promotional documentation for promotions, applications and recruitment (including LinkedIn profiles, resumes, CVs, bio statements, applications and cover letters)
• designing and authoring (and delivering) presentation training, such as for the Mongolian Foreign Office for all their diplomats
• writing and editing speeches and presentations for countless individuals
• copyediting newsletters for start-ups, copy writing for countless websites, writing and editing media releases
• writing complaints and solicitations for many individuals
• designing and authoring training in corporate writing (and delivering them) for financial analysis at Arax Properties Ltd., for general commercial writing at Nardello Ltd., and for investigative report writing at Risk Advisory Ltd.
Media and marketing:
creative support
I have written for creative industries as well. In fact, over three decades ago, I was an avid writer of fiction as a backpacker roaming the Global South, inspired by anthropology and philosophy electives in my otherwise business degree. My other more creative writing since then has included:
• copywriting web content for a great number of websites, ranging from the more demure to the more left-field and wild, like rereke.co
• copywriting for media releases, such as impactful and moving rhetoric for NGO PBI International in their online content, newsletters and reports on human rights issues.
• ghost-writing for a small luxury brand PR agency and its contributors to glossy magazines, for example Marie-Claire, Hong Kong Tatler and Hello! among many others.
• proofing for book authors, including several works of fiction, a coffee-table book on biodiversity, and an autobiography.

Published academic works
Academics see beyond borders. They often live beyond borders.
Despite the new de-globalisation agendas assaulting both academic freedoms and funding, the academic experience is still one that bridges cultures, languages, identities and many other boundaries. The rewards I enjoyed from dedicating time in this sector are deep and intangible.
Subject-matter intimate | accurate academic copy-editing
With pressure to provide research output, international academics are productionizing their efforts. They rely on an ever-narrower niche of experts to help execute this.
Yet they meet serious obstacles.
On the one hand, subject-matter experts with robust and eagle-eye copy-editing skills are as rare as hen's teeth; on the other, commercial proof-readers usually fail to follow complex content or to truly get the subtle connotations, so their technical proofing quality is often poor and based on blinkered assumptions.
There is a need for a subject-matter-intimate copy-editors that have long track records of working with academic expression. I get regularly commissioned or contracted to meet such demands.
Trusted scholarly foundations
With associations in the literary centre-of-the-universe, London’s Bloomsbury, I thrived for a quarter of a century providing services in the higher education community. With tenure and a base within the University of London's iconic Senate House, at SOAS, I ran tertiary-level teacher training, and academic literacy training across disciplines, as well as supporting Economics, Finance, International Business and Management courses, for example. This included coaching postgraduate and doctoral candidates (in many other universities too) to write clearly, accessibly, richly and competently. Also, I was commissioned to write and copyedit extensively:
1. Copyediting scholarly research articles for authors from Middlesex University, Southampton Business school, SOAS University of London, University of Birmingham, University of Exeter, Beijing Normal University, Universitat Jaume I de Castelló, Loughborough University, and others. Topics typically ranged from finance, accounting, human resource management, business strategy and management, to linguistics, for publication in prestigious academic journals with the strictest standards.
2. Authoring and co-authoring four text-books, including English for Management Studies, published by Garnet Education for worldwide distribution (winning the 2009 ESU Duke of Edinburgh English Language Book Award, and a significantly high-revenue product for Garnet in the first year of sales) and re-writing it as the second edition in 2024 for release in 2025.
3. Authoring, co-authoring, co-editing and implementing extensive commercial e-learning and online content for Garnet Education and for ACL Pty Ltd., the former published globally, and the latter bought to market in Australia, China, Thailand and Vietnam universities and other educational institutes.
4. Authoring countless in-house courses on writing, presenting, communication, critical thinking, all areas of academic development, and on English for Economics, Finance, Management, International Business, at University of London SOAS, and English for Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Management and other vocational areas at Middlesex University, and on postgraduate writing and research dissertations at the above two universities and the Aga Khan Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilisations. Also, authoring content for (and delivering) training to postgrad MBA and Finance students in employability and recruitment processes at HEC Paris, Kings College London, Queen Mary University of London, Instituto Marangoni, and London Metropolitan University. Also, authoring courses for both staff and students (and delivering them) on communication skills, internationalisation and lecturer CPD at Masaryk University in Brno.
5. Supporting (tutoring and coaching) countless high-calibre postgraduate, doctoral and post-doctoral candidates in their research and writing, at University of London SOAS, Kings College London, University of the Arts London, London Metropolitan University, University of Technology Sydney, and the Aga Khan Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilisations.
6. Designing and writing materials for (and delivering) an MA Interpreting module in Professional Enhancement, including authoring complex assessment descriptors, subsequently delivered for many years at Middlesex University.
7. Singly undertaking and authoring a review for an educational department restructure at Middlesex University, and project managing an annual university-wide browser-based skills and literacy diagnostic for 7000 learners, at the same.
